Another reason to move to Putnam County!
As I mentioned in my first blog, Rodman Reservoir, also know as Lake Ocklawaha!! Which is a 9600 Acre Lake, 2 miles wide and 15 miles long and 18 Ft above sea level. Known for its great bass fishing with 10-16 lb. bass caught on wild shiners, who wouldn’t want to catch one that size?? I actually caught an 8 lb. bass there several years ago, what a blast!! There are 7 boat ramps around the lake and 2 campgrounds.
Check out their website for all the details. It’s a great site!!
If you like to play golf, that’s another reason to move to Putnam County!
There are 2 Golf Courses!! One in Fruitland, South Putnam and one in the middle of the county in Palatka!!
Live Oak Golf and Country Club in Fruitland, FL was designed by Miles Christian Anderson and measures 6027 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 108 and a 69.7 USGA rating. The course has 18 holes and is a semi-private golf course. Visit their website www.golfliveoak.com and get all the details!! You’ll be surprised at the reasonable green fees, rental golf carts and rental clubs!!
Palatka Golf Club is a vintage course designed by Donald Ross in 1925. The holes gradually tumble over the sandy ridges and wrap around the wonderful Ravine Gardens State Park!! The Palatka Golf Club also has reasonable prices, so if you are in the area check out this course that can be played quickly and enjoy the game without taking up the whole day!! Check out their website for all the details!! www.palatkagolfclub.com
Crescent City is a charming small town nestled between 2 Lakes, Lake Crescent and Lake Stella. And as I mentioned before, Some Great Bass Fishing !! The town got it’s name because of the moon shaped lake. The lovely Sprague House bed and breakfast is a wonderful place to stay. There are a number of Victorian era homes in the heart of the historic district and antique shops peppered through the town for plundering!! The Catfish Festival is a must go to in April every year!! That is how we ended up in Putnam County !! The town closed the highway for the Parade and we ended up going on an adventure in this quaint county!! Give it a try, you’ll love it!!
